CHRISTIAN BOOKSHOPS - WHAT'S WEIGHTING THEIR SHELVES?

"... another Jesus... another spirit... another gospel..."
(2 Corinthians 11:4)

"I popped into my local Christian bookshop to get a copy of 'The Shack' and chanced upon this seriously dodgy book in the 'Other Religions' section. It's called (gulp!) 'BIBLICAL CHRISTIANITY.' We must alert everyone to the unacceptable teachings it promotes!"

(Sadly inspired by a visit to Shepherds Christian Bookshop in Lower Dock St., Newport)

  1. I remember writing an article a while back about this very subject, cant remember where I posted it but basically my local Christian Bookshop and the big CLC one at Amen Corner in the city of London are just full of really dodgy stuff, stuff that I would not touch with a barge pole even if wearing oven gloves. I did at one point about 20 years aso almost start a Christian book business but never got around to it, even then the bookshops were filling up with prosperity gospel mumbo jumbo such as Copeland/Hagin/Cerullo and folks. Nowadays they are still on the shelves and the buyers/followers of these people are still seeking prosperity and divine health. added to them are the likes of Joel Osteen, Rick Warren and Todd Bentley with plenty of stuff even worse such as Chrislam and Bibles that have more or less watered down the deity of Christ and removed the blood of Jesus. Its a picture of the established and lukewarm church, thankfully the Lord has a remnant whom know their onions and listen to His voice. Come Lord Jesus.

    1. Hi Tommy, and thanks very much for this!

"Christian" bookshops have become major distributors of apostasy in these Last Days. People soak up an endless stream of lying garbage on Antichristian TV, and then pop down to their local bookshop to buy the Satanic works of their favourite ear-ticklers... which they are all too eager to cram their shelves with. Sign of the times, of course, and thanks be to the Lord as you say that He has a Remnant who haven't poked out their own eyes and blindly follow the blind into the awaiting ditch.

      Every blessing in Jesus,
      Maranatha!
      Rob.

  2. Doesn't surprise me a bit-testimony to the "perilous times" we now live in! If anything it only strengthens my faith; as it confirms that the Bible is true!
These post millennial kingdom now folk!

    1. Hi, and thanks for writing in!

The quantity of heresy and deception on the shelves of this particular "Christian" bookshop was simply staggering! It was so obvious that the real Biblical Jesus had long been given His marching orders, and "another Jesus" was very firmly ensconced in His place.

It was clear that if they were to be honest (!), uncompromising Biblical Christianity would now only really fit into their 'OTHER Religions' section. Hence this deeply ironic - and I would hope heart-wrenching - little satire, as an attempt to drive home an important point that is sadly so rarely being made.

Very best wishes in the REAL Jesus,
      Rob.

  3. Hi Rob,

Just lovin the humour here! Humour is a great coping strategy in difficult times, me thinks.

I can remember the shock I felt, many years ago, when I first discovered that Christian Bookshops were places full of heresy and anti-christ-type materials. I can remember the seismic shift in my world-wide Christian view point. It was a difficult thing to come to terms with initially, but now, like you and many other believers, I am learning of more & greater deceptions and wickedness in places that ought to be places of safety and Godliness.

Your blog has helped keep me informed on one or two issues. Thank you for your work.

    God bless you
    Helen

    1. Hi Helen, and thanks so much for your comment!

I do believe that sometimes a little wry humour can make a point much more effectively than a deadly serious approach.

Things are now so very upside down and back to front; we are undoubtedly witnessing the great Falling Away from Truth before our very eyes, in so many directions! Perilous times indeed...

I'm both pleased and encouraged to hear that you've found some of the material on the blog helpful. Thank you for this feedback!

With very best wishes in Him,
      Rob.
