WEEVILS AND SPIRITUAL EVIL - THE DESTRUCTION OF EVANGELICAL CHRISTIANITY... FROM THE INSIDE OUT!

"But there were false prophets also among the people, 

even as there shall be false teachers among you, 

who privily shall bring in damnable heresies."

(2 Peter 2:1)

Just what have weevils to do with spiritual evil, like false prophets and false teachers who introduce heinous heresies, you might well ask. Well, on the face of it, absolutely nothing at all! But as it happens, these ugly snout-nosed wee bugs provide a most useful metaphor for understanding something of Satan's methods of meddling in Church affairs. Let me attempt to explain how...


PESTS IN THE PANTRY

A glistening grain of rice. 'How nice!' thinks the female weevil, as she scurries over and bores a little hole in it. And into this hole she carefully deposits a fertilized egg, equally carefully sealing up the hole so it looks like it was never there. On the outside, everything looks hunky-dory. It's a solid grain of good rice, or so it seems! But on the inside? Well, that's another matter altogether...

In due course the egg hatches, and the ravenous little larva relentlessly feeds on all the good stuff inside the grain, steadily growing and growing until it reaches a stage of full adulthood. And then it eats its way out of the ruined rice grain. Immediately, the act of mating and fertilization occurs, and the female weevil spots a fresh grain of glistening rice. 'How nice!' she thinks, as she scurries over and bores a little hole in it... And so on and so forth...

IN TIME, THE ENTIRE WEEVIL-INFESTED SACK OF RICE IS TOTALLY RUINED. GOOD FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. EACH INDIVIDUAL GRAIN DESTROYED FROM THE INSIDE OUT.


PESTS IN THE PULPIT

A congregation of evangelical Christians. 'How nauseous!' thinks the Enemy, who hurries over and bores a little hole in it where its spiritual armour is weakest. And into this hole he carefully slips a false teaching, equally carefully sealing up the hole so it looks like it was never there. On the outside everything looks hunky-dory. It's a solid fellowship, as sound as a pound, or so it seems! But on the inside? Well, that's another matter altogether...

In due course the false teaching surfaces, relentlessly eating away all the good stuff inside the church, steadily growing and growing until it reaches a stage of full-blown apostasy. Then the false teacher emerges from the ruined congregation, on a mission to multiply, and the cycle of church infiltration and ruination continues unabated. The Enemy knows of another congregation of evangelical Christians. 'How nauseous!' he thinks, and rushes his false teacher over to bore a little hole in it where its spiritual armour is weakest... And so on and so forth...

IN TIME THE ENTIRE SPIRITUAL EVIL-INFESTED DENOMINATION IS TOTALLY RUINED. GOOD FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. EACH INDIVIDUAL CONGREGATION DESTROYED FROM THE INSIDE OUT.


PESTS IN THE PERSON

But let's take this analogy a very important step further. A church is not bricks and mortar, a church is the people who gather within that structure. Indeed, there is actually only one Church, of which all born-again believers are a part, living bricks if you will, and held together with the mortar of the Holy Spirit. What applies to a denomination, or to an individual fellowship, applies firstly - and always so! - to an individual believer. A church as a whole can only succumb to spiritual evil if the persons who constitute that congregation of the saints INDIVIDUALLY - and only then COLLECTIVELY - succumb to it. 

Every single one of us bar none, has points of weakness which the Enemy is ever ready, waiting and eager to exploit to the fullest. He always knows exactly what buttons to press to get a result. He knows precisely where to bore those little holes where someone's armour is weakest, and sneak in one of his locked-and-loaded Laodicean eggs. And after the incubation, hatching, and eating away of Truth in that person, the mature deception-bug emerges, mates and continues the sorry cycle. 

THE DESTRUCTION OF A CHURCH FROM THE INSIDE OUT BEGINS WITH THE PLANTING OF A FALSE TEACHING AND ITS INCUBATION IN THE SOUL (i.e. MIND, EMOTIONS AND WILL) OF AN INDIVIDUAL. 



CONCLUSION

My friends, we've now reached the point where it is not just the odd sack or two but nearly the entire storehouse that is infested and ruined. Only a Remnant remains uncontaminated, but mark well that even that Remnant is extremely vulnerable. Anyone who thinks that he or she is immune from deception is already deceived in holding that very thought. No-one is immune. Period.

A grain of rice has no defence against the weevil's ravagings. But thanks be to God that in His incredible grace we have access to the strongest defence imaginable against spiritual evil, in the form of the Word that was written and the Word that was made flesh. Even when our soul has been infiltrated, the Word of Truth can still oust that seditious intruder. Why has apostasy reached such epic proportions? Because Scripture has been thrown to the winds, and experience has usurped its rule in peoples' lives. In this "post-modern" world, there is held to be no absolutes and truth is whatever you want it to be, not what it unalterably actually is, now and eternally. Where the Bible is neither read nor upheld in all its fullness, Satan will bore holes without number!

Friends, be diligent to follow the laudable example of the Bereans and check absolutely everything against Scripture. Don't let spiritual evil bore its subtle and insidious way in. If it already has, don't let it remain, don't let error grow into full-blown apostasy. Far too many have already allowed this to happen. Don't be one of them. Ask the Lord in His great mercy for wisdom and discernment, and both treasure and unceasingly use these most precious gifts. Yes, you may end up being at odds with most if not all around you. Faithfulness comes at a cost, it always has. But is the price not completely worth paying? Surely what matters is to one day be able to hear these words from the lips of the Lord of Glory:

"Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, 

I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord."

(Matthew 25:21)

PLEASE, MY FRIENDS, GUARD YOUR SOUL ZEALOUSLY AND JEALOUSLY! BE A WISE AND NOT A FOOLISH VIRGIN AND HAVE YOUR LAMP FULL OF THE OIL OF UNADULTERATED TRUTH, FOR ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING OUTSIDE OF PURE TRUTH IS SIMPLY ABSOLUTE EMPTINESS!

THE MOST HEINOUS IDENTITY THEFT EVER PERPETRATED! - IS THE LORD YOU LOVE IN ACTUALITY THE LORD OF THE FRAUD?

But they were not His; they did not know him personally. Oh yes, they most certainly used His name, but they were neither His followers nor His friends. What they did in His name was not righteous but nefarious in the extreme, for they had actually robbed Him. They had freely and purposefully engaged in the most heinous identity theft ever perpetrated. They had stolen His name. And they had used it falsely.

THEY NEVER KNEW THE LAMB;

THEIR FAITH WAS JUST A SHAM;

THEIR MINISTRY? A SCAM!

FRIENDS, I IMPLORE YOU TO PAY HEED TO THIS URGENT WARNING. JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE IS USING THE NAME OF JESUS IS NO GUARANTEE WHATSOEVER THAT HE OR SHE IS A LEGITIMATE MINISTER OF THE GOSPEL. ALL TOO MANY ARE ACTUALLY THE DEVIL'S DISCIPLES, UNASHAMEDLY USING THE NAME THAT IS ABOVE ALL OTHERS FOR THE CREDIBILITY IT LENDS TO THEIR FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY.

The definition of fraud, as found in the Collins English Dictionary, is:

1 deliberate deception or cheating intended to gain an advantage
2 an act of such deception
3 informal a person who acts in a false or deceitful way

Thieves of the Lord's identity. Fraudsters. Deceivers and cheats. Pulpits and platforms everywhere are now full of such puffed up chaff masquerading as wheat, reprobate men and women referencing a Redeemer they don't know, a Christ of convenience whose stolen name obtains for them a passport to the land of opportunity. Fame... Power... Wealth... They can be so, so convincing, and seem so, so sincere - and never more so than when they've even successfully conned their own selves. Such are worthless wells without water, mirages of oases, dealers in deep delusion, great pretenders "whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things." (Philippians 3:19)

Yes, well, we all know - or should know! - that gaining financial advantage through using the Lord's name is rife in the Church; the Word of Faith "prosperity gospel" hucksters have long got fleecing the flock down to a very fine art. But it's not just those with dollar signs lighting up in their eyes who are suckering the sheep in order to gain a personal advantage. Celebrity status and power and control are also major motivations for the unashamed and the unscrupulous to engage in this most terrible crime of stealing the Lord's identity. When wisdom and discernment are at an all-time low, when so many pastors are not shepherds but hirelings, when experiential and experimental "Christianity" has so very largely superseded Bible-based belief, such Satanic trickery thrives.

The perilous times we were warned would come (Ref. 2 Timothy 3:1) have arrived. Big time. In the name of Jesus, huge numbers of Hell-bound fraudsters are deceiving countless people into trusting in a lie which leads them like lemmings to the cliff, for His name is being cited when He has never sanctioned or has anything whatever to do with their utterances or their actions.

FRIENDS, THERE IS ANOTHER JESUS ABROAD. A BOGUS JESUS. SAY WHAT? THE APOSTLE PAUL WARNED THE CHURCH THAT A DIFFERENT JESUS COULD BE BEING PREACHED, WITH A DIFFERENT GOSPEL AND IN A DIFFERENT SPIRIT (Ref. 2 Corinthians 11:4), AND THEY COULD WELL PUT UP WITH THIS! HOW RIGHT HE WAS! MANY, MANY FOLKS NOW HAVE ACCEPTED AND ARE WORSHIPING THE JESUS OF THESE IDENTITY THIEVES, A FAKE JESUS OF THE IMAGINATION AND NOT OF THE BIBLE. ONLY THE TRUE JESUS HAS POWER TO SAVE. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE BE A BEREAN AND CHECK ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING AGAINST THE SCRIPTURES. IT'S THE ONLY WAY TO BE COMPLETELY CERTAIN THAT THE LORD YOU LOVE IS THE REAL ONE, THE WORD THAT WAS MADE FLESH, AND NOT THE LORD OF THE FRAUD!  IF YOU GET IT WRONG, THERE QUITE LITERALLY WILL BE HELL TO PAY...

"Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another.

And ye shall not swear by my name falsely,

neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God:

I am the LORD."

JUDGMENT MUST BEGIN AT THE HOUSE OF GOD - ANYONE WITH EARS THAT ARE STILL OPEN, LET HIM HEAR: THE HOUR IS LATE!

"For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?"

(1 Peter 4:17)

JUDGMENT - like wrath, Hell and damnation - is a word rarely found in the vocabulary of a professing Christian today. But judgment is precisely what this little piece will major upon, with a particular focus on just where judgment begins. 

Our God is most certainly a God of immeasurable love, mercy and grace; but He is also a God of unfathomable holiness and righteousness, and while slow to anger He is also "great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked." (Nahum 1:3). There are countless examples of wickedness in the world all around us that we could easily refer to, the perpetrators of which will all in due course be held accountable before the Sovereign Creator of the universe for their heinous deeds. But there is one very great wickedness, increasing in intensity with every passing day, which I will speak of here, for the need to do so presses heavily upon me. 

That unspeakable evil is the presentation of a false Jesus, a bogus messiah with forged credentials, a counterfeit redeemer with a fake gospel that cannot save but only seduce men with a shimmering mirage of life-giving water when the grim reality is that there is really nothing there but choking, parched sand. 

Right from the off, before the canon of Scripture was even completed, the Apostle Paul gave grave and impassioned warning of what was to come:

"For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock.

Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears."

(Acts 20:29-31)

Note well that it is not only external predators who threaten the flock but internal self-seeking spiritual fifth columnists, false brothers and despicable traitors to the cause of Christ, who will proclaim a different Jesus with a different gospel and operate in a different spirit which is very far from holy. 

We might quite rightly call such a thing heresy, apostasy, deception... but let's not get away from the basic fact that the presentation to a lost world of a "Jesus" who is not the Jesus of the Bible - the Logos, the Word made flesh - but an impostor with a twisted message that cheats men out of their coming to a genuinely saving knowledge of the Truth, is quite simply WICKEDNESS of the highest order. And it is a wickedness that brings an inevitable judgment from on high.

Yes, our God is slow to anger, but there comes a point at which His anger will surely erupt. Yes, our God is patient but not infinitely so; there comes a point at which His patience snaps. As it is written, His Spirit shall not always strive with man. (Genesis 6:3). A man may persist in choosing a lie over the truth, as he has been given the free will to do so, but there is an exceedingly high price to be paid for such perversity. Judgment will come, as surely as clouds bring forth rain, and the guilty will not be acquitted. But judgment has a starting point; it begins at the house of God: it begins with the Church.

But what form will this judgment take? God will simply allow people to have the renegade pastors and prophets they crave, parasites who will be permitted to feed for a season until His purposes are accomplished and they are banished to the blackness of darkness for ever. (Jude v.13). If the people who claim to be His have itching ears, He'll simply step back and allow them to be tickled. He'll simply say something like, "If that's what you want, then that's exactly what you shall have! If you want to hear what the purveyors of falsehood proclaim rather than what I have to say in my unchangeable Word, go ahead! Follow their hollow "Jesus" if you will, but you've opted to be deceived, you've made your choice. Did I not warn that I would send a strong delusion because you would not receive the love of the truth? So you can trust to Word of Faith fabrications, you can believe in the New Apostolic Reformation's fables, you can lean on any lie you want to; I'm giving you over to it! You can have whatever your fickle and fleshly hearts desire, but what you won't have is ME!"

And it's already happening. Judgment has already begun at the house of God...

"A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;

The prophets prophesy falsely, 
and the priests bear rule by their means;

and my people love to have it so:

and what will ye do in the end thereof?"

The following article, written in June, 2015, was forwarded to me by its author who is a good friend of this blog, with full permission to reproduce it here if I thought it appropriate - which I most certainly do! It is a very thought-provoking piece, and I hope and pray that its message will resonate with readers. (No prizes for guessing which TV channel is referred to in the text!)

Compromise, Complicity, and Collusion

Something that's compromising makes one vulnerable to being embarrassed or incriminated in some way.

Complicity refers to the act of helping someone else behave inappropriately or illegally.

When you collude with someone, it is for the purpose of getting or doing something that is illegal or harmful; it is to act in unison or agreement, often in secret, towards a deceitful or illegal purpose. One is then guilty of collusion.

We compromise the Word of God when we fail to accept the Word. See 2 Timothy 4:3-4. We also compromise when we place our own desires and the desires of others before the Word of God. See Acts 5:4

As true believers in Him, we must accept His Word as absolute and inerrant truth - 2 Timothy 3:16. We must obey His Word fully - John 14:15, 1 John 5:3, and 2 John 1:6. We must acknowledge that His Word is not to be compromised for any reason or for anyone - Deuteronomy 17:11, Proverbs 24:7, and Revelation 3:15.

It follows on, therefore, that we certainly must not collude with, or be complicit in, the sins of others.

Years ago, The Lord spoke to my spirit and said, " I will brook no compromise".

I was involved in much false teaching until The Lord, in His grace and mercy, brought me out. This all started with compromise, when I did not pay any attention to His instruction in Matthew 24:4. From there, it was a downward slope.

I have also been been at the receiving end of abuse, and have seen others abused. In my work as a Care Support Worker, I have provided support to those who have been abused; the effects on them are very distressing to witness.

False teaching and abuse often go together, I have found, though not necessarily.

At a training course at my workplace earlier this week we learnt about the various types of abuse and were taught to recognise the signs of each type and to provide examples. Sadly, I found the latter part of this exercise all too easy to answer.

One of the examples I gave was of a residential home, where some of the staff verbally and physically abused residents, whilst others, though not taking part in the abuse themselves, were nevertheless guilty of abuse because they sat by and said and did nothing while defenceless people were cruelly mocked and abused on an ongoing basis.

Even one instance of abuse where someone says or does nothing is bad enough; the one just sitting by is equally culpable as the perpetrator of the abuse. In other words, they are not only complicit, they also collude.

I reiterate; we must not collude with, or be complicit in, the sins of others. One of these sins is maltreatment, e.g. verbal abuse and controlling and / or manipulative behaviour. These are not just seen only in cultish Christian groups and churches!

Two examples immediately come to my mind. One is a certain Christian TV channel which gives a platform to many false teachers and prophets, mostly of the WoF variety.

Those of us who have lovingly shared our concerns have been verbally abused, maliciously accused, and had our characters maligned, especially by a certain person on this channel, both on live programmes and on Facebook. I speak as one of these.

A number of Godly men and sound Bible teachers left the channel in protest due to the WoF false teachers and prophets and others being given air time, but not before having tried to explain their reasons for this to the channel concerned. They were not willing to compromise with such gross error. If they had remained on the channel, they would not only have been guilty of compromise, but also of complicity and collusion. They had no alternative but to leave.

Since then, this channel has gone from bad to worse. I therefore ask, can we, or should we, have anything to do with it? That includes watching it.

For me, the answer is "no". I cannot, and will not, watch it. Surely, if we do that, we betray those who so boldly stand for the truth of His Word. Friends, that is disloyalty.

The other example is a Christian business I know. One of the owners of this business behaves in a way that is most unbecoming a Christian. They are rude to people, disappproving, critical, and cruel. They have, on several occasions I know of, reduced people to tears, and driven others away - literally. People I know, or have met, have been told to leave the premises (told, note, not asked or requested!) and then not to return as they are not welcome. Yet others are cut off,  summarily dismissed, or ignored; this person has turned their back on them, and in common parlance, "blanked" them.

Believers have witnessed this person's behaviour on a number of occasions, but have said nothing. Mind you, the said person is somewhat intimidating; you cross them at your peril! To my shame, I have witnessed this person's behaviour, but have also said and done nothing. I am equally guilty, therefore, of complicity and collusion.

But now, enough is enough. I am voting with my feet! I will not be returning to those premises whilst this person's behaviour continues thus.

If they were to contact me to ask me why I have not been back there, I will ask The Lord to give me the courage and wisdom to answer them, citing the examples of their behaviour I have given.

I therefore ask again; can we, or should we, have anything to do with premises managed by a person such as this? I think you know what my answer would be.

Being famous - for whatever reason! - is the ultimate elixir, the intoxicating "magic potion" of this bewitched generation which readily and steadily consumes it by the cauldronful! Those who are the most rated and revered by the masses are those who can be seen to have "arrived," and whose paparazzi-snapped pictures adorn the pages of the tabloid newspapers and glossy magazines like 'Hello!' and 'OK!'  The stars of film, TV, sport and music are the feted heroes and heroines of contemporary culture, and the lyrics of the hit song 'Fame' from the 1980 movie of that name completely encapsulate that whole egocentric ethos:

I'm gonna learn how to fly high

People will see me and cry!

Baby, I'll be tough

"CHRISTIAN" CELEBRITIES

It is heart-breaking to have to record that the fleshly obsession with celebrity in the secular world is to be found everywhere in the "Christian" world also. Pulpits globally are occupied by "celebrity" preachers with big names, big bank balances, big "ministries" and big, big followings. The darlings of the duped, men like Rick Warren, Joel Osteen, Joseph Prince and T.D. Jakes are the front-pagers of secular and "Christian" magazines alike, as the above illustrations clearly demonstrate. From every part of the planet, millions tune in to see the televangelist superstars of the TBN schedules...

Why should this be so? Quite simply, it's because such men - and women! - are not preaching the true, unadulterated Gospel of Jesus Christ, but a false pseudo-gospel which has its focus on MEN. They present to the itchy-eared a candy-coated "GOD" who has been made in the image of MAN. Theirs is a COUNTERFEIT CHRISTIANITY, a "designer" brand of religion guaranteed to be ATTRACTIVE to people, not to CHALLENGE them! And at the diseased heart of their message is the notion that what they have, you and I can have too... as long as we follow THEM of course, for THEY are God's anointed and appointed leaders...

Concerning such flesh-pleasing MISrepresentatives of the Faith, the TRUE Apostle Paul wrote:

"For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ."

(Galatians 1:10)

Such men are indeed not genuine servants of the Lord, but the unashamedly compromising servants of self-interest, making merchandise of those who heed their persuasive and pernicious sales-pitch. Consumers are buying a carefully-crafted and attractively-packaged product, designed to PLEASE. The advertising is slick; those who sell Satan's latest "must-have" are skilled in the art of marketing. For who will want to invest in a deception if it doesn't LOOK and SOUND like it's something well worth having, right? If it's going to fly off the shelves of the Warren Warehouse, the Osteen Emporium, the Meyer Mart or the Hinn Bin, then it's got to be seen to be highly desirable... and keep the impressed (and head-messed) punters coming back for more...

So just where did all this preoccupation with celebrity stem from in the first place? Would you believe way back in Eden, and the very first temptation of all? When the serpent slyly snuggled up to Eve and hissed in her eager ear, "In the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as GODS...!" And men and women have desired to be celebrities, "little gods," ever since! Today, many celebrity "Christian" teachers hold to such a Luciferian "little gods" doctrine. Such well-known Word of Faith heretics as Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Joyce Meyer, T.D. Jakes, Creflo Dollar and Morris Cerullo, have all declared the divinity of man. They are all still listening to the same old hissing of the snake, and beguiling others to listen too!

IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF NIMROD!

"He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD. And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel..."

(Genesis 10:9-10)

Just as Nimrod was a hunter, so too are the likes of the above-mentioned - and many, many others on the contemporary conveyor belt of false teachers and preachers in what passes itself off as the Church today! They are hunters of men's minds and souls, skilled at the chase, and deadly. And just as it was Nimrod the hunter who founded Babel and its false religious system, so too are these wolves-in-sheep's-disguise constructing a new Babel to the glory of man, creating a counterfeit "Christianity" that is a million miles removed from the real thing! They are engaged in nothing less than preparing the ground and laying the foundations for the One World Religion of Antichrist, the 'Mystery Babylon' of Revelation. 

The original Babel-onians wanted to make a name for themselves. They wanted to be famous, to be celebrities and to be associated with other celebrities, "little gods." Theirs was the first attempt at a New World Order in defiance of God's ordained order, and what we are witnessing everywhere in the world today is the second - and final - attempt to create such a religious, political and economic monstrosity. Nimrod, in a classic example of Biblical typology, was the forerunner of Antichrist. How incredibly and unspeakably horrible to see droves of supposedly evangelical Christian leaders so foolishy following in his footsteps! And to see multitudes of the misled following in theirs! But as Paul warned right from the start:

"For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them."

(Acts 20:29-30)

Celebrities? As God's Holy Word tells us, in no uncertain terms:

"For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself."

(Galatians 6:3)

And the fruits of such folly? Well, Galatians 6 goes on to say:

"Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting."

(Galatians 6:7-8)
