Here we have a glimpse of "The Emergent Church" in action. Seeker-sensitive and culturally relevant, inclusive and... well... apostate! Must avoid that 3-letter S-word at all costs, mustn't we! Let's define SIN (oops, the word just slipped out!) simply as "bad things we've done." And then, if we just say "Sorry, God!" the beautiful butterfly will burst out of its bed of pretty pink petals!

The acknowledgement of being a SINNER - and to be a truly REPENTANT SINNER - is so much more than this! SIN is the inherent GODLESSNESS of man, the SELF to the fore in an endless cycle of rebellion against God and the things of God. It is the decadent and defiant fallen flesh in diametric opposition to the Spirit. It is the love of the world. It is darkness waging incessant war against the Light. It is the iron will of man in complete juxtaposition to the will of God. It is lawlessness. It is anarchy. It is the absolute antithesis of the perfect ways of a holy Creator.

Mouthing a token "Sorry, God!" is simply insufficient. Genuine REPENTANCE is the death to self, a living sacrifice, a wholesale submission, an honest admission of complete unworthiness, the unconditional surrender of one's entire being and the willingness to pick up and bear our own personal cross. And the whole of our lives thereafter is to be a continual process of sanctification. As the Apostle Paul succinctly urged: "Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling" (Philippians 2:12), echoing the words of the Psalmist: "Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling." (Psalm 2:11). For we are dead and utterly without hope under the edicts of the Law, and live and breathe and have hope by His grace alone.

This card is so subtle. It has an appearance of righteousness. It is designed to attract. And it is deadly in its deception. For the underlying spirit behind it is the spirit of error, not the Spirit of Truth. It invites us to make God out to be anything we want Him to be. It proclaims Him to be "the best friend, dad and mum you could ever have." So He can be your bosom buddy, your Pa, or even your Ma if that's what you want Him to be! In fact, there's a very active campaign underway right now to have God addressed not as 'Him' but as 'Her!' These newspaper headlines from 31/5/15 say it all:

All this, of course, has everything to do with militant Feminism and nothing whatsoever to do with Biblical Christianity. But in the loudly and proudly liberal, "anything goes," lukewarm Laodicean waters of the Anglican communion, such travesties are an everyday reality.

The plain fact of the matter is that the Bible unambiguously calls the First Person of the Trinity the FATHER, the Second Person the SON, and the Third Person is referenced as HE or HIM only! To assign female nomenclature to God is to re-write His Book, adding something that is very definitely not in it! It is contradicting the Creator Himself, challenging the very basis of how He is to be addressed. Jesus Himself taught that we are to pray to the FATHER. Dare we declare that He didn't know what He was talking about? That His teaching was wrong? Such a thing is the spirit of antichrist at work in our lives!

THE "GOD'S YOUR BEST MUM" CARD FEATURED HERE IS SIMPLY SYMPTOMATIC OF A FLESH-LED CHURCH THAT HAS LONG SINCE LOST ITS WAY, A WAYWARD CHURCH THAT HAS WELCOMED IN AN ALIEN SPIRIT WITH OPEN ARMS AND REJECTED RIGHTEOUSNESS IN FAVOUR OF ABJECT FOLLY, A HEADSTRONG CHURCH DETERMINEDLY CAREERING DOWN THE BROAD ROAD. BUT JUDGMENT IS COMING...

A STILL SMALL VOICE - TRUE REVIVAL AND FALSE REVIVAL! - HEART-CRY OF A WATCHMAN AND PILGRIM IN A BARREN LAND.

"And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice."

(1 Kings 19:11-12)

The inerrant Word of God makes it abundantly clear. The end of the Age will be marked by rampant apostasy, a great Falling Away. But before the darkness completely closes in, will there be one final REAL revival, one last great testimony to the flawless perfection and sin-purging purity of the Gospel message? It is an open question, and the answer to it lies only with God Himself.

Revival - TRUE revival - may yet come, if God wills it to be so. But if it comes, it will come through NO device or design of mortal man. It will come only as a Sovereign act of the Creator, as a totally unmerited gift and as a direct Divine expression of His unfathomable goodness, His patience and His mercy towards us. And it will not come in a tempest that smashes rocks in its forcefulness. It will not come in a 9.6 Richter Scale earthquake that heaves and splits the Earth beneath our feet. It will not come in an inferno of searing heat and Heaven-high flames. Revival - TRUE revival - if it comes at all, will not come in any of these ways. It will not fulfill the grandiose and false expectations of men's imagination. It will come as a still small voice...

It will not come with cultural relevance and seeker-sensitivity. It will not come with guitars and synthesizers and drums. It will not come with pulsating stage lights and penetrating lasers. It will not come with laughter and leaping. It will not come with fanfares and festivals, with dancing in the aisles and loud shouts of delight. It will not come with parades and with programmes, with platform prophecies and powerful proclamations and headline speakers and television specials. It will not come with bold business models or best-seller books, or with  truckloads of money and echoing crystal cathedrals with towering pulpits and stadium-size PA systems. It will be nothing to do with noise or with numbers.

It will never come with Charismatic Renewal, Purpose-Driven, Promise-Keepers or Alpha. It will never come with New Wine, Churches Together, The Call or the New Apostolic Reformation. It will never come via a Bethel or a Willow Creek or a Hillsong or a Kensington Temple. It will never come with any amount of naming-and-claiming and positive confession, God-chasing and grave-sucking, courses, conferences, crusades and contemplative prayer. It will never come with all the methods and machinations of man put together. For TRUE revival is not of fallen flesh but of Almighty God.

If TRUE revival comes, it will come with the sound of weeping. It will come with bitter tears, with the beating of breasts, and with brokenness. It will come with unbearable sorrow, an anguish which rips the very soul apart. It will come with a raw and brutally honest repentance that wells up from the uttermost depths of one's being. It will come with fear and with trembling. It will come with a heart that bleeds unstoppably for the eternally lost, a heart that uncompromisingly cleaves to the Author and Finisher of our Faith, the Word of the Book and the Word that was made flesh, a heart that trusts in God alone and nothing of man. If TRUE revival comes, then this is how it will come, and no other way. It will come not with a mighty wind, an earthquake or a fire. It will come with a still small voice...

ALL UR NAMES ARE WRITTEN IN ''THE LAMBS BOOK OF LIFE'' I thought to feature this here in a new post, as it so completely encapsulates and conveys just what we are up against when exposing the likes of Howard Conder, and indeed all such lionized individuals who similarly dare to drag the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ through the mire, with actions and attitudes which are the diametric opposite of those that mark true men of God.  The desperately sad and deplorable fact is that so many people CHOOSE to be deluded. They actually PREFER to believe the illusion rather than the reality. They want to see the shimmering Technicolor mirage, not the dry desert sand. And so they deliberately put out their spiritual eyes, wilfully electing to absolutely ignore all the evidence of the horrible things committed in the land... and on the Revelation TV channel! Apart from the technology, not much has changed since the prophet Jeremiah lamented of his own Babylon-bound generation, "MY PEOPLE LOVE TO HAVE IT SO!"
